Battlefield 3 Grand Bazaar Strategy

In this article, I will be going over the top Team Deathmatch strategies for the Grand Bazaar map in Battlefield 3. This map is definitely one of a kind and no other map in the ladder pool plays out quite the same way.

BF3 Grand Bazaar Strategy

The first thing to know about Grand Bazaar is that there are a lot of tight quarters but there is also a lot of cover. You almost always have something to hide behind when in a shootout with players down its many hallways and courtyards. Most of your cover is pretty light – crates, cars, small cubbies, boxes, pallets, and the like.

The end result is that the rocket launcher is incredibly powerful here. The quarters are so tight that many times it is impossible to dodge a well-placed rocket, and the light cover here might be enough to stop bullets but it is not enough to stop rockets. Just aim for the wall behind where they are standing or if the cover is light, go directly for the crates the person is hiding behind.

With enough practice, taking down players with the Rocket Launcher is a routine practice for an Engineer on this map. I would say out of all the maps in the Deathmatch ladder pool, rockets are the strongest on this map since it is hard for players to dodge them and the cover tends to be light.

BF3 Grand Bazaar Strategy – Sniping

While typically I am not a big fan of sniping from the rooftop as it makes you fairly vulnerable, there is one particular building on this map which is build for sniping.

At the central north part of this map, you will find a tall building which overlooks the entire marketplace. Even more so, this building has a small wall with a crack in it. You can go prone and look out this crack and see nearly the entire map.

This roof is protected from both sides (either by other buildings or because it is inaccessible by foot) so that you only have to look out the front – there is no worry about being shot on the roof by someone outside of your field of vision.

The only dangerous part is people sneaking up on you by going up the stairs. What I recommend is partnering up with an Assault or Support Kit player who is using a shotgun. Both players will be able to easily defend the narrow stairway with a shotgun. Other players will not stand a chance of coming up.

There are benefits to both the Assault and Support Kit. If your partner is using the Assault Kit, they can throw down health kits and more importantly revive you should you die. You can keep a radio beacon down on top of the roof in case your partner dies. This way both of you will have to die in order to lose your rooftop position, which is extremely unlikely.

The Support Kit on the other hand can give you extra ammo, which you will want if you are doing well on the roof. I think it is best to use the Assault Kit as a partner though since revives and health kits are invaluable. Use the Ammo Specialization as you are likely going to need the bullets.

The two of you can camp up here the entire game and rack up quite a few kills with minimal risk of death. Definitely a boon for your team if you can pull this off. It does require cooperation though – go up here solo and the other team will sneak up on you in a heartbeat.

If players you are going against are using this strategy successfully, the easiest way to get rid of them is not to storm the building (storming a building camped by a player with a shotgun does not work well) but rather using rockets to blast away the walls of the building. This takes away the sniper’s cover and makes them much easier to take out.

By following either of these two strategies here on the Grand Bazaar Battlefield 3 map, you can really gain an edge on this map. Engineers should make constant use of their rockets and Assault or Support players should pair up with a Recon Kit player and take the northern building.
